CODE OF CONDUCT
Winthrop Playmakers expects all
representatives to act in accordance with the highest standards of
personal and professional integrity in all aspects of their
activities and to comply with all applicable laws, regulations and
company policies. We must never compromise that integrity. In
accepting a membership or agreeing to perform in a show, signing a
music and/or director contract with The Winthrop Playmakers, each of
us becomes accountable for compliance with the law, with this Code
of Conduct and with the policies and By-Laws of the Playmakers.
The Code of Conduct applies to all Winthrop Playmakers'
representatives, including its General Members, Board of Directors,
Musicians, Performance Cast/Crew, and Production Team. It is your
responsibility to become familiar with the policies, rules and
regulations of the Winthrop Playmakers.
If you have any questions about the Code of Conduct or about any
Playmaker rules and regulation, you should discuss them with a Board
of Director or a member of your Production Team.
Winthrop Playmakers expects you to act in full compliance with the
policies set forth in this Code. Failure to observe these policies
may result in sanctions administered by the Board of Directors, up
to and including immediate termination of membership or removal from
a show.
 |
The
Management (i.e., Board of Directors, Front of House Committee,
Buildings and Grounds Committee and/or the Production House Staff)
reserves the right to refuse admittance to and/or ask for the
removal of any person behaving in a manner that is found to be
detrimental to or not in the best interest of a performance, a
rehearsal, or any other Winthrop Playmaker activity.
|
 |
Use of
illegal substances will not be tolerated, anyone caught using an
illegal substance will be automatically removed from the building,
and subject to additional sanctions, such as removal from the show
or have their membership revoked. Alcohol should not be consumed
before rehearsals or performances and when at a Playmaker social
activity alcohol should never be offered to or consumed by a minor
(less than 18 years of age). Anyone caught providing alcohol to a

 |
The
Playmakers value an environment where diversity is embraced, and
where our members' differences are valued and respected. We prohibit
sexual or any other kind of discrimination, harassment or
intimidation. Discrimination and harassment whether based on a
person’s race, gender, gender identity or expression, color, creed,
religion, national origin, citizenship, age, disability, marital
status, sexual orientation, ancestry, veteran status or
socioeconomic status will not be tolerated and should be reported to
any Board Member (in confidence) for appropriate action to be taken.
|
 |
All
cast, crew and Production Staff are requested to maintain a
professional image, as it reflects on the Theater as a whole. This
includes the use of foul language (swear words). In productions that
include minor children, this rule becomes even more important.
Always be aware of your surroundings and mindful of children and/or
the general public that may be within hearing or viewing range.
|
PRODUCTION
 |
On
performance nights, there should be no contact between cast members
and audience prior to the performance. Messages for the cast will be
delivered by the stage manager or member of the House staff.
|
 |
The
House (audience seating area) will be open one half hour before all
performances unless there is an emergency or lighting problem. Warm
ups will be held in the upstairs theater until one half hour before
curtain.
|
 |
There
shall be a plan to follow in the event of a show cancellation
regarding notifying cast, crew, audience and ticket holders.
|
 |
All
cast and crew are expected to participate in the strike of the show.
The Stage Manager is responsible for posting the strike list in the
dressing rooms prior to the last show. Since the Playhouse consists
of volunteers, a team approach is to be taken during strike, so that
all participants can finish the strike in a timely manner in order
to attend any post-show social events. Cast members are encouraged
to support all aspects of productions, including: set construction,
painting, and clean-up before a show. The Production team will
communicate set building, painting and clean up days.
|
 |
All
membership dues and show fees are payable to the show's Producer(s),
prior to the first rehearsal. Please refer to the By-Laws for
details.
|
 |
During
the run of a show, a Concession Stand is available for cast, crew
and audience members. Items are available for purchase. Cast and
Crew members are expected to pay for these items. Please do not
place the Concession Stand staff in an uncomfortable position by
asking for free or "comped” items. Several cast and crew members
find it easier to make a donation upfront at the start of the show,
which covers their purchases for the run of the show. The kitchen
area in the back of the theater contains a refrigerator, water
bubbler (both hot and cold) and microwave. You are encouraged to
bring any specialty items such as herb tea; throat lozenge’s, snacks
etc, and leave them in the Dressing Room, with your name on it.
|
TICKETS
 |
As a
bonus of membership, each current member will be entitled to
purchase one (1) ticket per production for $10.00. The ticket staff
should have an up-to-date membership list. Cast members should alert
House Staff to any special requirements (i.e. difficulty with
stairs) of friends or family that are attending performances.
|
 |
Prepaid
tickets/prepaid reservations will be honored no matter how late
patron arrives, but, they may be asked to wait to be seated until
there is an appropriate break in the performance.
|
 |
Unpaid

earlier (in the case of a possible sell-out) if that policy is made
clear at the time the reservations are made.
